Night City is calling again. Four years after Cyberpunk: Edgerunners became a phenomenon, winning Anime of the Year and single-handedly reviving interest in Cyberpunk 2077, Studio TRIGGER and CD Projekt Red return with a second season that starts over completely: a new crew, a first-time director, and a story Netflix describes as a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge. With the premiere days away and the final trailer now out, this guide has everything confirmed: the exact release date, the trailer, the new characters and voice cast, the episode count, and where to watch.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 Release Date

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premieres worldwide on Netflix on October 20, 2026, with all 10 episodes dropping at once. No weekly wait, no split cour: the whole season lands on day one, the same way the first season did in 2022.

The road here has been unusually public. The season was announced at the Annecy festival in June 2026, fans at Anime Expo in July were shown the entire first episode, and Netflix followed with a sneak peek clip in September, an escape sequence set in an Akasaka building, before the final trailer arrived on October 14. A season this far ahead of its own premiere is a season the studio is confident about.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 Trailer

Netflix released the official trailer on October 14, 2026, and it wastes no time. Roman Carax films Talia Yang mid-leap and asks why she is still mostly organic. D admits the people he has lost visit him in his dreams, asking for help he cannot give. And somewhere in the footage sits the season’s most unsettling tease: the Blackwall, and an AI that may already be inside someone’s head. Watch it here:

What Is Edgerunners 2 About?

First, the part returning fans need to hear plainly: this is not David Martinez’s story continued. Edgerunners 2 is a standalone ten-episode story with an entirely new cast, set in the same Night City. Weak, a washed-up cyberpunk legend once known as a King, is now forced to live without chrome, searching for a sense of purpose in a world that has passed him by. Meanwhile the nomad D sets out on a path of revenge that brings him close to corpo secrets never meant to be found. Around them, Netflix promises a story of family, obsession and legacy, and of how the lens you hold up to other people’s lives ends up reflecting your own.

When the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you go to so your story matters?

That question is the season’s thesis, and it is a very Edgerunners question. The first season asked what Night City does to a kid with nothing; this one asks what it does to people who have already survived it, a legend with no chrome, a netrunner haunted by his dead, a corpo daughter raised in gang territory, and a kid with a camera who believes filming real lives still means something in the age of braindance. Showrunner Bartosz Sztybor pitched the season in the language of 90s films like Pulp Fiction and Léon: The Professional, with character designs drawn from 90s comics, which explains the harder, grainier look of the trailers.

Meet the New Crew

Roman Carax is the season’s eyes: a young cinephile who documents real stories in a city drowning in braindance, and whose camera gives the show its framing device. Talia Yang grew up in corporate towers as the daughter of Avida and Kiril Yang, then hardened inside the Maelstrom gang, and the trailer’s flashbacks dig into exactly what that cost her. D is a Snake Nation netrunner hunting the person who killed his clan, and the dreams he describes in the trailer are not a figure of speech. Weak Kingsley is the veteran: a former King of the edgerunner scene, now chromeless and diminished, who tells Talia they have more in common than she thinks. She disagrees.

One more thread hangs over all four of them. The trailers keep returning to the Blackwall, the barrier that keeps rogue AIs out of the Net, and to the suggestion that someone has put a piece of what lives beyond it inside a human head. Season 1 stayed street-level; this season is flirting with the most dangerous idea in the Cyberpunk universe. Netflix is also still hiding a fifth central character who has not been named in any of the promotion. The Japanese cast is led by Momoka Terasawa as Roman, Akari Kitō as Talia, Kōki Uchiyama as D, and Kentarō Tone as Weak Kingsley. The English dub, available from launch, stars Valeria Rodriguez, Kimoy Lee, Nazeeh Tarsha, and screen veteran Clancy Brown as Weak, with Daniel Wu as Kiril Yang, Cesili Williams as Avida Yang, Brittany Lauda as Capri, and E.G. Daily as Kyoko Tanaami. Behind the scenes, Kai Ikarashi, who storyboarded and animation-directed the original’s devastating Episode 6, steps up to direct the whole season in his directorial debut, with Naobito Uchida as assistant director. Bartosz Sztybor returns as showrunner, story writer and producer, TRIGGER CEO Masahiko Otsuka writes the scripts, Ichigo Kanno leads character design, and Tsuneo Imahori (Trigun) composes the score. The music around the show is stacked too: The Cure’s “10:15 Saturday Night” is the opening theme, Petite Meller performs the ending theme “Watson,” and Rico Nasty’s “You Can’t Run From Me” was written for the series.

Where to Watch Edgerunners 2

Streaming on Netflix

Edgerunners 2 is a Netflix exclusive worldwide. All 10 episodes arrive on October 20, 2026, included with any Netflix subscription, in Japanese audio with subtitles and with the full English dub available from day one, alongside the other language options the first season shipped with. There is no other legal streaming home for it, and no weekly roll-out to keep up with, so the only real decision is whether you pace yourself or let Night City take the whole night.

Season 1 is on Netflix now if you want the warm-up: ten episodes, a rare 100 percent Rotten Tomatoes score, and the Anime of the Year winner at the 2023 Anime Awards, where it beat Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer. It is not required viewing for the sequel, but it is the reason the sequel exists.

Edgerunners 2 FAQ

When does Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 come out?

October 20, 2026, worldwide on Netflix. All 10 episodes are released at once.

How many episodes is Edgerunners 2?

Ten episodes, matching the first season. Showrunner Bartosz Sztybor has said a self-contained ten-episode story was always the plan for each season.

Does Edgerunners 2 continue David and Lucy’s story?

No. It is a standalone story about a new crew: Roman Carax, Talia Yang, D, and Weak Kingsley. David’s arc ended with Season 1, and no return for David or Lucy has been announced.

Do I need to watch Season 1 first?

Not officially. The new season is built to stand alone. That said, Season 1 is ten episodes, it is on the same Netflix account, and it explains what Night City does to people, which is the engine of everything the sequel is doing.

Who voices the new characters?

In Japanese: Momoka Terasawa (Roman), Akari Kitō (Talia), Kōki Uchiyama (D), and Kentarō Tone (Weak Kingsley). In English: Valeria Rodriguez, Kimoy Lee, Nazeeh Tarsha, and Clancy Brown, with Daniel Wu as Kiril Yang.

Is the English dub available at launch?

Yes. The English dub releases day and date with the Japanese version on October 20, 2026.

Will there be an Edgerunners Season 3?

Nothing has been announced. Each season is designed as a standalone story, so a third season would again mean a new crew in the same city, and would depend on how Season 2 performs.

The first Edgerunners was lightning in a bottle: an anime that revived a game and outshone almost everything released that year. Season 2 does not try to bottle the same lightning; it changes the crew, the director’s chair, and the question being asked, and trusts Night City to do the rest. We will update this guide with our review once the season drops. Until then, if you are staying in anime mode, our Sakamoto Days Season 2 guide tracks Netflix’s other hitman-turned-family-man.
