The season is titled Chainsaw Man: Assassins Arc and adapts the International Assassins arc, roughly chapters 53 to 71 of Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga.
After the events of the Reze Arc film, Denji's fame has spread globally and assassins from around the world come hunting him. The arc introduces Quanxi and her entourage, the Santa Claus storyline, and a sequence in Hell involving the Darkness Devil that manga readers have wanted animated for years. The June teaser also teased a US setting.
There is speculation the season may continue past this arc into the Gun Devil material, but MAPPA has not confirmed any scope beyond Assassins.
