I Am a Hero Too Release Date
The new My Hero Academia short, titled I am a hero too, releases on August 3, 2026. It is expected on Crunchyroll, which carries the series, its films and the previous special.
It follows My Hero Academia: More, a special episode that premiered in May 2026 adapting the extra chapter from the manga’s final volume, set eight years after the final war.
What Is I Am a Hero Too About?
The short centres on Eri, and her life after the final war. It adapts a one-shot by Kohei Horikoshi from the 2025 fanbook My Hero Academia: Ultra-Age.
The premise is quietly affecting. Eri wants to become a singer, inspired by Class 1-A’s performance at the school festival, an event that was itself staged largely to make her smile. Having been made happy by heroes, she wants to do the same for other people. For a character introduced through some of the series’ bleakest material, giving her an ordinary ambition is a deliberate choice.

Where This Sits in the Franchise
Kohei Horikoshi’s manga ran in Weekly Shonen Jump and concluded in 2024. The anime finished with Season 8 in December 2025. Between them they turned My Hero Academia into one of the most commercially successful shonen properties of the last decade.
Everything arriving now is anniversary material rather than continuation: More in May, and I am a hero too in August. Neither extends the main plot, and both are epilogue pieces.

Should You Watch It?
If you finished Season 8, yes. It is a short, low-stakes piece rather than essential viewing, but Eri has been one of the series’ most sympathetic characters and rarely got space of her own.
If you have not finished the series, skip it for now. The whole point rests on knowing what she went through, and it will read as pleasant but weightless without that.
